A pair of Section 2 basketball players were named player of the year in their respective classes Thursday. Hoosic Valley's John Rooney won the award for Class C. Joe Cremo of Scotia-Glenville took it home for Class A.
Both players are only juniors. Cremo averaged 25 points per game while leading Scotia to an undefeated season with a NYSPHSAA championship and Federation championship. Rooney averaged 20.2 points per game while also leading his team to a state championship.
Hoosic Valley's Mike Piere was named first-team all state for Class C.
Cremo's teammate Alex Sausville was seventh-team Class A all state.
