First-Ever Starlight Shootout to be held at Cohoes HS

The first-ever Starlight Shootout Slam Dunk and 3-point Contest will be held at Cohoes High School on March 29th from 12 - 5 p.m.

The event will help support the Starlight Children's Foundation, which serves over 4,000 children who are in-patient in local Capital Region hospitals every year as well as over 300 families who have children receiving out-patient care. The organization helps give children through the ordeal of sickness by providing entertainment, education and a chance to interact as a family.

Currently over 90 high schools from around the area have been asked to participate with two boys and two girls, one for each, participating in both categories.

The slam dunk contest will have a first-round elimination with the top five dunkers moving on to the Championship Dunk-Off. The 3-point contest will consist of a first-round shoot out within the league and each league winner will advance to the championship round. There will be one male and one female winner in each category.

There is no cost for schools to send participants and while there is a $5 entrance fee for the audience, every dollar will be donated to the Starlight Children's Foundation.

Players can register up until March 24 by e-mailing rainbow@starlightnyc.org.
