Hoosick Falls to open football season at the Carrier Dome

Hoosick Falls will kick off its varsity football season at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome.
The Panthers will face the Owego Free Academy Indians Sunday, September 7 at 1 p.m. in the annual Kick-Off Classic.
Hoosick Falls has 300 general-admission tickets for sale for $7. A spectator bus will also be making the trip to Syracuse.

La Salle's summer and fall events

La Salle Institute has released a schedule of events for the upcoming summer and fall.
The fourth annual lacrosse alumni game will be played Saturday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at Sutton Field.
The Cadet Open will take place August 25 at Albany Country Club.
The 2014 class reunion is scheduled from Oct. 10-12. La Salle will play its homecoming football game Oct. 10.

Local lacrosse players earn All-American honors

Four local athletes have been named first team All-Americans for girls lacrosse. The list consists of Shaker's Julia Lennon and Eva Torncello, Guilderland's Morgan Hardt and Nicole Beardsley of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.
Shaker's Sarah Cheney won U.S. Lacrosse's Jackie Pitts Award for Section 2. The award is given to a senior who exceptionally honors the game of lacrosse on and off the field and is invested in its development in her community.

Eight Section 2 teams competing for state championships

The Capital District has faired well on the diamond in the state tournament. The boys and girls each have four teams playing in the state semifinals Saturday. The state championship games are also played in a double-header format on Saturday. Here is the schedule for the remaining local teams.
Baseball: Saturday, June 14
Class AA: Shenendehowa vs. Roy C. Ketcham (Section I) 1 p.m. at Maine-Endwell H.S. Winner plays for the state championship at 4 p.m.
Class A: Averill Park vs. Rye (Section I) 1 p.m. at Union Endicott H.S. Winner plays for the state championship at 4 p.m.
Class B: Schalmont vs. Clinton (Section III) 1 p.m. at SUNY Binghamton. Winner plays for the state championship at 4 p.m.
Class C: Hoosic Valley vs. Seton Catholic (Section IV) 1 p.m. at Conlon Field. Winner plays for the state championship at 4 p.m.
